Description

Our client operates an academic teaching hospital affiliated with MSH Medical School Hamburg.

Centrally located with short distances between departments, the hospital is home to a comprehensive and closely integrated range of services, including the Department of Cardiology, Cardiovascular and Vascular Medicine; the Department of Hematology, Oncology and Palliative Care, the Department of Vascular Surgery, the Department of Trauma Surgery, the Department of Plastic, Hand, and Reconstructive Surgery, the Department of Rheumatology, as well as the divisions of Pain Management and Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology/Nuclear Medicine.

As part of a succession plan, we are seeking a candidate for this client, to start on October 1, 2026, or later, for the position of

Senior Attending Physician in Pulmonology (m/f/d)

The Department of Pulmonology and Respiratory Medicine, with 60 beds, covers the entire spectrum of pulmonology. A key focus is on obstructive airway diseases such as COPD, bronchial asthma, and pulmonary emphysema. Interstitial lung diseases and malignant lung diseases are also among the department’s main areas of expertise. The department is equipped with a state-of-the-art pulmonary function laboratory, including impulse oscillometry, Feno, and provocation tests, as well as a fully equipped bronchoscopy unit featuring a cryoprobe, miniprobe, endobronchial ultrasound, and rigid bronchoscopy, including stent implantation.

Another major focus is on non-invasive home ventilation; we have a home ventilation unit for this purpose. Finally, an integral part of successful long-term treatment in this area is providing in-depth education and training to our patients and their families.

We are seeking a highly qualified pulmonologist who already has experience in a leadership role. A patient-centered approach, strong interpersonal skills, and an understanding of cross-departmental organization—combined with an entrepreneurial mindset—form the foundation for the sustainable growth of our department.

A trusting and respectful approach to colleagues and private practitioners is just as essential as a sense of connection to the region.

We offer a long-term leadership position with significant opportunities to shape the role, in a pleasant work environment, and with compensation commensurate with the position’s importance.
