Our client operates an academic teaching hospital within the Jena University Hospital system that provides primary and standard care, with 164 authorized beds. The hospital is publicly funded by Kreiswerke Schmalkalden-Meiningen GmbH. In the departments of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care, General, Visceral, and Vascular Surgery, Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery, Internal Medicine—Gastroenterology and Pulmonology, Internal Medicine—Cardiology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, palliative care, radiology, and an affiliated ophthalmology department, approximately 7,000 inpatients and 20,000 outpatients (m/f/d) are treated annually.
The hospital offers specialized expertise through its centers, where decisions are made and collaboration takes place across medical disciplines—with short communication channels—for the benefit of patients: a Trauma Center, a Geriatric Trauma Center (ATZ), and a joint colorectal cancer center with a hospital in the immediate region. In addition, the hospital has a Pelvic Floor Center and a Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery.
We are looking for a
, starting October 1, 2026, or at another time, to fill the position of
Chief of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine (m/f/d)
The Department of Anesthesiology, Intensive Care, Palliative Care, and Emergency Medicine features state-of-the-art surgical units with 4 operating rooms, as well as a cutting-edge intensive care and intermediate care unit (ICU/IMC) with a total of 20 beds. An interdisciplinary team provides comprehensive care for patients from all medical departments. The range of services is complemented by a 7-bed palliative care unit, which ensures dignified care for critically ill patients.
The range of anesthesiological services encompasses all modern general and regional anesthesia techniques, with ultrasound-guided techniques firmly established in both anesthesiology and critical care medicine.
The hospital is also actively involved in prehospital emergency care: The on-site ground-based emergency medical service is staffed by hospital employees during regular working hours. The subspecialty certification in emergency medicine is therefore desirable, as participation in the ambulance service is part of regular job duties. In addition, there is the opportunity to participate in the emergency medical service outside of regular working hours as part of an approved secondary employment—an activity that is expressly supported by the hospital.
